Darlin coming out is each of our own personal voyages. If your family loves you and doesn't have homophobia I am sure all will be fine.

When I came out to my family 13yrs ago, my parents didn't disown me, weren't mean to me but they took it a little hard personally because they thought it was there fault. Now its all good, they/we got through it and they love my partner like a daughter.

with you in spirit....I never came out to my parents as such, when I was in college I just brought home my girlfriend one weekend and acted like it was completely normal while they exchanged lots of confused looks with each other, lol, not the best approach maybe but it worked.
