i make a lot of icons and i dont know why anymore really i mean its worthless i mean i do lims and i get kicked out first and 20 and 20s and i make really awesome icons i think at least and i never win ever i hardly ever even place its sad . i dont have ways or programs that i can make super colorful icons i use what i can get for free its just ugg i dont see the point anymore i know its not about winning but it still nice to win once in awhile , should I go on with icons or just stop ,take a brake n,ot sure what to do anymore
I also know that feeling, honey. Sure, I win at some contests from time to time, but most of them are the bi-weekly ones (like bohemiancontest). As with the 20in20 ones, I'm usually somewhere between being bummed and being angry. Again, I managed to snag some wins, but compared to other participants, it's not really much.
That said, I still can say that I love making icons. Sure, I would love to win a bit more (who doesn't?), but I'm slowly getting to the point where I participate just for fun, and be totally surprised when I manage a win. And I think that's exactly the point you should try to reach. It's a game after all, and there has to be a winner in the end. We all can try to do and hope for the best.
If I might add a bit of constructive critism, I sometimes notice that your icons have a "pressed" edge to them, you know, with the faces being thin and long and such (I hope you know what I mean, it's hard to describe).
Btw, what programs do you use? I would recommend both Paint.NET and Google Picasa. Both are free available and quite easy to use. If you want to add some cool effects, I also would recommend getting the desktop version of Pixlr (love their smoke overlays!). For a good color balance, I use the Microsoft Office Picture Manager, which is a part of their Office package.
Last but not least, I offer you my help. If you want any assistance, just PM me. We'll gonna get you there and snag some wins, I'm sure of that ;)
I have a old laptop so most of the programs I use are what I can get to work on my laptop for 20 in 20s it just seems like the same people win all the time and it kinda makes me sad I use Luna pic picmonkey be funky ,photocat and pizap pixler is so hard for me to use thank you for your offer I will take you up on that for sure I do love icons but it gets kinda sad sometimes . Microsoft office won't run on my dinosaur laptop but thank you so much I will try the others your so sweet thanks means a lot
